Grounds Maintenance Technician - Full-Time Year Round

Location: Gilford, NH

Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH is looking for a versatile and dedicated Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our Operations Team. Located in the heart of the Winnipesaukee Lakes Region, Gunstock has been creating memorable outdoor adventures for guests of all ages since 1937. As the Grounds Maintenance Tech, you’ll work directly with the Grounds Maintenance Manager on a wide variety of property repair and maintenance work that keeps our historic resort in good shape. And as a Gunstock employee, you’ll become part of a special team of NH locals who love our mountain and work hard to make it fun for their neighbors. $18-20/hr to start.

YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME:

  • Operating machinery and equipment used for general lawn and grounds maintenance for the base area and our 140 acre Campground, including loader, backhoe, tractors, mountain mower, skid steer, excavator, dump trucks, lawn mower, hand trimmer, snow plows, sanders and snow blowers.
  • Perform general repair, maintenance, and renovations to all resort grounds including campsites, lawn areas, roadways and bridges, exterior walkways, parking lots, culverts, ditches and underground utility markers; work with department manager to prioritize repairs and renovations; participate in the design and construction of capital projects as needed; assist third-party trade workers on complex projects when requested.
  • Assist the Grounds Maintenance Manager with the daily coordination of snow removal, mowing, trimming, landscaping, trash removal, and waste management functions to provide for safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing surroundings.
  • Assist with the coordination of guest parking areas and ground transportation for optimal efficiency; implement winter, summer, and event parking plans including lot designations, employee/vendor parking, lot barriers, fencing, barricades, signage, shuttle routes and schedules, and traffic control.
  • Work with the entire Operations Team in various capacities to support business operations, guest and employee functions, special events as needed; activities like moving and relocating equipment and materials, traffic control, housekeeping and trash pickup assistance; may also act as back-up to other trade workers on complex projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong working knowledge of and ability to operate heavy equipment operations, including excavators, snow removal equipment, loaders, backhoes, tractors, 6-wheel dump truck and mowing equipment
  • Experience using hand tools and small power tools to assist in construction projects as needed
  • Valid CDL-B with no restrictions preferred but not necessary
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • This position is subject to Gunstock Mountain Resort’s Alcohol and Controlled Substances testing policy

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 40% of the time; able to operate hand tools, power tools, vehicles, machinery and equipment used for general lawn and grounds maintenance. The employee is frequently required to move about the resort to access campsites, lawn areas, roadways and bridges, exterior walkways, parking lots, culverts, ditches and underground utility markers. Occasionally required to ascend/descend ladders on various projects. Required to move grounds maintenance equipment and materials weighing up to 25lbs regularly, up to 50lbs frequently, and up to 100lbs occasionally. The employee is constantly required to inspect, detect, and assess work areas, equipment, tools, machinery, and vehicles by climbing in, on, around, or under them.

SCHEDULING:

Position requires 40-48 hours per week. During peak operational periods Gunstock is open to the public 7 days/week with weekends being our busiest times. While we offer alternative flexible scheduling, this position does require weekend and holiday availability (excluding Thanksgiving).
