Lift Operators - Winter 2024/25

Department: Lift Operations
Location: Gilford, NH

Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH is now accepting applications for Lift Operators for the winter season. Lift Operators are responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of Gunstock's aerial chairlifts and surface lifts. We strive to create a welcoming, helpful, and organized experience for skiers and riders. As a guest-focused organization, it is the responsibility of all resort employees to create a positive experience for our guests. Applicants with peak and weekend availability will be consider first.

You'll spend most of your time:

  • Provide a safe and organized environment for the loading and unloading of guests of all ages and abilities on assigned lifts; communicate effectively with guests as they approach the load/unload zone to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Respond appropriately to guests experiencing difficulty loading or unloading the lift by slowing and stopping the lift as needed and communicating with other operators of slowdowns or stops.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures including, but not limited to; maze and fencing set up and take down, grooming and raking ramps, shoveling low tip areas, remove debris from loading areas and groomed surfaces, cleaning chairs.
  • Assist guests by answering questions in a congenial manner concerning trails, weather and snow conditions and mountain services.
  • Responsible for accurate and legible record keeping pertaining to all operational log sheets.
  • Accurate and expedient response in the event of any emergency due to skier error or equipment malfunctions.

Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time; constantly able to operate control switches, hand tools, vehicles, and equipment used for general lift and coaster operations. The employee is frequently required to move about the resort to access aerial and surface lifts, as well as the Mountain Coaster; occasionally positions self to operate lifts and coaster. Regularly required to ascend/descend stairs to access lift and coaster controls. Required to move lift and coaster operations equipment and materials weighing up to 10lbs regularly, and up to 25lbs occasionally. The employee is constantly required to visually inspect, detect, and assess work areas, equipment, tools, and lift/coaster components.
